Ko Tātau

TE AHUREA O TE KURA

As the Kura Kaupapa Māori entity within Te Wānanga Whare tapere o Takitimu we are distinctive from general mainstream schooling because of philosophies, principles and practices based on  Te Aho Matua o Ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori and Te Wānanga Whare tapere o Takitimu.

We are a Māori initiative in support of the state response and commitment to the preservation and maintenance of the Māori language, a tāonga of guaranteed protection under the Crown.  The Kura  Kaupapa Māori movement is an inspiringkura option for all New Zealanders within the bi-cultural goals of government policy.

The board of trustees, whānau and kaiako work collectively to provide an education that allows each akonga to reach their full potential, socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally within an environment, that affirms and grows their identity as Māori and solidifies them in the Te Aho Matua and  Wharetaperetanga.

OUR VISION

Our Kura Kaupapa Māori

Offers a holistic and highest quality of learning experiences founded on Te Aho Matua philosophy.

“Womb to the tomb”

Our educational philosophy since 1983 promotes lifelong learning. There is a place for all ages and all stages of learning at Te Wānanga Whare Tapere o Takitimu.

Our “Womb to the tomb” (Māori medium education pipeline) provides a solution for all Whānau.  The unique difference of TKKM o Te Wānanga Whare Tapere o Takitimu is that Whare Tapere serves as a shared curriculum and foundation for learning that flows from Te Kohanga Reo, Kuratahi, Wharekura, Wānanga, and Taikura.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

To provide a seamless ongoing education that allows each child to achieve his/her full potential socially, intellectually, physically, emotionally and spiritually in an environment that affirms his/her Māori identity.
